In the last decades of the century, mages are born within the six kingdoms. Destined to fight in the great Tournament of Mages, these individuals face a perilous path. Six mages compete, wielding magic in different ways. Blood magic courses through the Red Mage. The Blue Mage draws power from the elements, the shapeshifting Green Mage from nature. The Grey Mage uses illusions and controls the mind, while the Black Mage has dominion over death. The White Mage casts magic with music and dance. Five years before the centennial, a Tourney Master awakens – their job, to find and ready the six mages for the Tournament of Mages. They will face harrowing obstacles, pitted against each other to decide the ruler of the kingdoms for the next hundred years. On the stroke of midnight, on the last day of the last year of the century, the Tournament will begin.

Born in a time when magic was abundant in the world, Orennox survived witch hunts, blights, and wars. Now magic is failing as the scientific age is born. Earth Nodes, sources of magic, are hidden or lost, hunted, and feared, but being born in the distant past doesn't mean that Oren will not protect these magical resources with any weapon that comes to hand, magic or mundane. Only, magical Earth Nodes are not his only concern. His protections must also extend to the beings who are sensitive enough to find the magic still lingering. He can’t afford to lose them to other wizards, for they are almost as difficult to find as the Earth Nodes themselves.
